The following are some tips offered by Dr Berson for reducing inflammations and limiting flare-ups:

• Over-cleansing can prove counter-productive. Too much scrubbing of skin can not only increase irritation but also remove essential lipids. Instead she recommended use of pH-balanced natural face cleanser.
• For those who are under medication for acne problem, she suggested the use of oil-free, organic Beauty Products such as, moisturizer. This will combat the drying effects of medicines.
• Rosacea-prone skin tends to be very sensitive to both, medicines and beauty products. Dr Berson suggested lipid-based skin care products to enhance one’s complexion’s barrier.

Stressing on the need to use natural cleansers, Dr Berson said that they have mild surfactants which can effectively eliminate oil and dirt from the skin’s surface. She further claimed that by using organic Skin Products one would not compromise the skin’s barrier function.

The Daily Mail had recently reported that more than half the women population across the world describes their skin as ‘sensitive’. For sensitive skins, natural beauty care becomes all the more important. Dr Nick Lowe, consultant dermatologist, Cranley Clinic, suggested some key ways of keeping one’s skin calm. He suggested that those with sensitive skin must wash themselves with lukewarm water, stop using soap completely, decrease the number of beauty products they use and keep their skin care regime very simple.
