I am moving to Brisbane. What is it like?

Hi everyone.

I’ve FINALLY made the decision, and on 13 January I’m getting on my flight to Brisbane. HURRAH!!

My mum lives in the suburb of Burpengary (always makes me laugh! =) ), and I was just wondering if somebody could explain to me what I should be expecting. Basically, what do typical 18 year old’s do with their time? When I visited the area in August ’06, we visited Ipswich, and I got a little bit creeped out as I thought it reminded me of the town in House Of Wax. It’s not all like that, is it?

Just a word of warning, its going to be pretty hot when you arrive (although I don’t know where you live currently). January is always melting hot! But you’ll love it!

18 year olds do whatever other 18 year olds do in other parts of the world – studying, shopping, going out to clubs, going to the beach etc…There are lots of shopping malls and movie theatres, and the city itself is full of clubs – one of them is the biggest club in the Southern Hemisphere.

Its not as fast-paced as Sydney or Melbourne is; its a little bit more relaxed. You’ll love it!
