Does anybody work or manage in a Salon?

I am starting an apprentiship with a hair and beauty salon soon that is being opened. It is my mum’s friend who is going to be managing it and they want my input on what hair and beauty brand products to buy and also what salon furniture to get. Obviously it cannot cost too much because it is a salon just starting out. But any ideas on furniture brands and hair and Beauty Product brands would be really good.

And maybe some insight into what you would like to see when you go into a salon so i can suggest ideas that are unrelated to the furniture and products as well.

As I am an expert on haircare, I suggest you get the whole range of T.I.G.I products – as they cater for all types of haircare. I would also suggest kerestase (spelling?) and maybe some redken repair deep conditioners. These products are not necessarily what you would call cheap but if you buy them in a wholesale bulk say from somewhere like the retailer Sally’s then you could get a profitable discount.

I think the salon should be quite modernized as it is just starting out and needs to obviously attract people that might already have a salon that they go to and trust – so it needs something to sway them in.
Maybe an offer like say one girl books an appointment for a colour, well if she invited her friend to come for a colour they would both get half price of the colour. But only for that one time. That way they will gain the stylists trust and reconsider coming back again and telling all there friends about it.

Obviously you will need a lot of publicity for the salon as times are tough now and people are reluctant to part with there money. Also where the salon is located is quite restricted to certain customers, if you have any queries or worries or even want to book an appointment, Let me know what you would like and I would be able to advertise the salon for a plausible fee. You would need the most publicity coverage you could possibly get to ensure the salon opening is a success.
